In Costa Rica, we have approximately 1,200 species of orchids distributed in 178 genera. It is due to ecological differences that occur in the country during various climatic factors. Being a very narrow country and have the influence of two oceans, large differences in moisture in the atmosphere are presented, which makes exist a diversity of climates. This favors the emergence of many different orchids species. Costa Rica has one of the highest densities of these per unit area of land.
