Description:
Our van and tour guide picks you up at your hotel and takes you to the village of Cañas in the province of Guanacaste. On the way there, we pass through a very scenic area of panoramic vistas; with luck you will see some of the province’s volcanoes in the distance. In Cañas, Safaris Corobici will outfit you for your river rafting adventure on the Tenorio River and give you a few instructions about paddling a raft. However, if you prefer not to paddle, you can sit back and let your experienced river guide do all the work! You will be on the river for about 3 hours and as you pass the large trees of the tropical dry forest, you will see an incredible variety of flora and fauna. Your tour guide will point out and identify animals; tour participants normally see monkeys and iguanas. Other possibilities include cayman, coatis, and otters as well as some of the 300 species of birds that inhabit the nearby Palo Verde National Park. After finishing your unforgettable tropical river tour, it’s time for a delicious lunch called a casado, the traditional Costa Rican combination plate, with your choice of meat, fish or vegetarian.

After lunch we will head back towards Monteverde. En route,  you can take either a coffee tour or do a little trout fishing in the lovely village of El Dos de Tilarán, a friendly farm town. If you choose the coffee tour, you will visit the Coopeldos cooperative. A knowledgable guide will explain the history of this very important crop and you will learn about the entire coffee production process from harvest to cup. If you choose to go trout fishing instead, you will visit Pesca Deportiva Don Sabino. This family-run trout farm has small ponds where you can fish and then can have your catch cooked for you on the spot. Afterwards, your driver takes you back to your hotel.
