What is a shuttle service?

A shuttle service is a door-to-door service, picking you up at your hotel and taking you directly to your next hotel. Unlike the public bus that stops many times along the way, our shuttle service only stops for photo ops and rest breaks. Usually the vehicle used is a 15 passenger van. Guarantee your seat by making a reservation with us, preferably 48 hours in advance.

What are one day tours?

One day tours leave from your hotel in the morning and return you to the same hotel in the afternoon. (Some one day tours can be arranged so you travel to a different hotel at the end of the day for an addition fee.
Please ask us for details.) We have a variety of exciting and interesting itineraries available. Tours are all inclusive but sometimes additional optional activities are available for a fee; options are clearly noted in our tour description.

What is the difference between a shuttle service and a private transfer?

Private transfers are the ultimate in convenience and flexibility, tailored to your schedule and preferences. Your group has the van to yourselves and can request as many stops for photos or pitstops as you like during the trip. Naturalist guides are also available with this service.

What are your pickup times and locations?

Private transportation can leave whenever you want. Shuttle vans require a minimum of 2 passengers and leave from Monteverde, Arenal and San Jose at approximately 8:00am and 2:00 pm. (The exact time will depend on which hotel you are at.) If you are traveling alone, please contact us to see if we are running a shuttle service when you would like to go.

Shuttle service is also available from almost all of our destinations to Monteverde, Arenal, or San Jose. Those shuttles leave at various times in the afternoon. Please refer to our schedule or contact us for more information.

How will I be able to identify you when you pick me up?

All our vans are identified with the Quality Transfers logo. (See the top left corner of this web site.) Our driver will have your name on a list. He will identify himself to you and confirm where you are going.

How much luggage can I take on the van?

Surf boards are $10 extra. All other luggage is free, but please let us know when you make a reservation if you have a lot of luggage.

Are there rest stops along the way?

There is at least one rest stop on each trip so you can use the restroom, get something to eat or stretch your legs. In case of an emergency, just let your driver know that you need to make a stop.

Are pets allowed?

Only guide dogs with their owner are allowed.
