Tour description:
The tour takes you on a large, comfortable catamaran to beautiful Tortuga Island, off the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula. The island is a private nature reserve of 120 hectares (almost 300 acres). Its long white sand beach with warm turquoise water is perfect for swimming. It has been awarded a Bandera Azul (blue flag), the coveted conservation award from the Costa Rican government.
Your driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to Puntarenas.
There you will board the Great Bay’s Princess at 9:00am for the cruise to the island. The catamaran has three levels including a sundeck and a bar. An on board tour guide will point out islands and share some interesting information. Once we arrive at the island at about 10:45, you are free to choose from many different activities. Playing volley ball or soccer, sunbathing or swimming are popular. Optional extra activities can be arranged and paid for on the island. These include snorkeling, guided hikes, pedal boats, water bicycles, and kayaking. Kayaks are single or double and some have glass bottoms. At noon there is a buffet style lunch. You can choose from salads, fish, chicken, wine, fruit, dessert, etc. In the afternoon you have more time to enjoy the beach and island. At 3:30, it’s time to be back on board for your return cruise to the mainland. You arrive in Puntarenas at about 5:15 and from there return to your start point.
Please note that for an additional fee, you can arrange to go to a different place at the end of your tour. For example, you can leave from Monteverde and transfer to San Jose at the end of your tour. Please let us know how we can help you put together your dream trip!
